MONEY IS TIME, AND BY THAT I MEANT POEMS. A POEM IS TIME AND MAKES NO MONEY (GOOD). And you'll find more than just a few of them in my book, Our Digs. What's so funny about that? Our Digs is what it sounds like: I love digs, though more in a collection of poetry than not. I love a collection of remarks. I can't get enough of it, whether I love it or not. And so can't you. You'll find twelve poems in this book, those of which, at times, prefer being polite and other times, abrasive, and at times, brush its interior (how vast) and other times, exterior (how vast). Sounds familiar, doesn't it? It is the sound of my life, an energetic dance on beat with missable swings, a departed song missing the beat with kissable swings. Here, the subjects are nonfictional and aggressive, since I like being loud and obnoxious, since it suits me and this book, Our Digs, as well as you could hope. What good has ever come out of an aggressive stance? A little bit of romance should solve everything, shouldn't it? Maybe for the reader, but not for the poet; then again, if not for the poet, then also not for the reader. A tragedy glorified is still a tragedy, scrutiny glorified is still scrutiny, and nothing glorified is still nothing. So, when ambiguities turn you into anything more full than a cardboard, then that is a solution, a solution to the problem that is a cardboard presence. And when you're at last full and realized, you can laugh freely. Hahahahaha! Now, come back to your pout. Like your laughs, these poems are free and don't bleed into one another, though, again, like your laughs, they are short and transient. But why should that be a bad thing? Life without moments like that, without Our Digs, is not worth lusting after. Note: Intended for adult readers. Our Digs is a cousin of Our Chores.
